Introduction to the Legislative Process 101 will be presented by Angela Thomas, office manager for Senator Lorraine Inouye, from 5:30-7 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 6. Attend this basic introduction to the legislature, learn how it works, and the difference between a resolution and how a bill becomes a law. The 2017 Hawaii Legislative Session begins Jan. 18.

Parkinson’s and Neuroplasticity Wellness Support will meet tomorrow from 1—2:30 p.m. Individuals with Parkinson’s and other neurological challenges, along with their partners or caregivers, are encouraged to attend this support group/talk story. Focus is on community and conversation. Dress comfortably and ready to enjoy a class to strengthen mind and body.

Breast Feeding Support will gather from 9:30—11 a.m. this Thursday, facilitated by Aimée. Breastfeeding and expectant mothers are encouraged to attend this monthly meet-up for mother-to-mother support. Meetings are topical discussion format and keiki-friendly. The group intention is to support education and experience it to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of babies, moms and families.

Sibling Rivalry will be presented by Marci B. Schiller for parents of toddlers to tweens from 5:30-7 p.m. this Thursday. Release your role as referee and experience the joy of parenting. Discover the factors that contribute to the competition between children: parenting styles, birth order and labeling, to name a few. Then, join the fun in role-playing using the Redirecting Children’s Behavior techniques of win/win negotiation, making agreements and self-calming. The class is for adults only.

Beginner’s Yoga this class from 4—5 on Dec. 13, with Kiyomi Falcon, has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. Relieve chronic stress and muscle strain, while relaxing mind and body.

Essentially Well will be offered on Dec. 15 from 3:30-5 p.m. with Kimberley Bennett, essential oils aficionado and ardent natural solutions devotee. Learn how effective EOs can be in helping manage everyday health concerns naturally. In support of good cheer with Christmas near, the class will begin with festive oils of cinnamon, ginger, peppermint and orange. During the do-it-yourself portion of class, creatively combine healthful ingredients into a a handmade product for gift giving. Bring along a medium size wide-mouth glass jar with a lid.

Dying for My Diet will be presented from 5:30—6:30 p.m. on Dec. 15. In this last class of a three-part series the topic will include two different forms of disordered eating, their signs, symptoms and outcomes. This will be woven into an experiential exercise to broaden awareness, bring new insight and deepen empathy for those who suffer from disordered eating patterns. Each of the programs in this series also stands alone, so join whether or not you attended last month.
